What is a .FITS file?
A FITS file is the standard scientific image format used by telescopes, astrophotography cameras, and archives such as NASA and ESA. Open it with SAOImageDS9 (free) or NASA FITS Liberator. The extensions .fits, .fit, and .fts all refer to the same format and can be safely renamed.
