What is a .EDI file?
The most common data format on the web.
An EDI file is an Electronic Data Interchange document, a machine-readable business record such as a purchase order, invoice, or shipping notice exchanged between companies. It is plain text in ANSI X12 or UN/EDIFACT format, so any text editor opens it, but the raw content is dense codes and delimiters. To read it as a human, use an EDI viewer or translator.
