What is a .KEY file?

A .key file is an Apple Keynote presentation, the Mac counterpart to PowerPoint. On a Mac or iPhone/iPad, Keynote opens it directly (free). On Windows, use Keynote for iCloud at iCloud.com: sign in with a free Apple ID, upload the file, and download it as PowerPoint or PDF. PowerPoint cannot open a .key file directly.

Will it look exactly like in PowerPoint?
Close, but not pixel-perfect. Text, shapes, pictures, tables, colours and the theme are redrawn from the file. Animations, transitions, charts, SmartArt and some special effects are simplified or skipped.
Can I see the speaker notes?
Yes. Notes appear under the current slide whenever the author added them, and they're counted in the info panel.
What about old .PPT files?
For PowerPoint 97-2003 files the viewer extracts the text of every slide, titles and bullets included, but doesn't draw the layout yet. Save the file as PPTX for a full preview.
And Apple Keynote?
Keynote files keep their slides in a proprietary format. If the file contains its built-in preview image we show it; otherwise export the deck from Keynote as PPTX or PDF.
