What is a .TFW file?
The most common data format on the web.
A TFW file is a world file, a tiny six-line text file that tells GIS software where a TIFF image sits on the map (position, scale, and rotation). It contains no image data. It lives next to a .tif of the same name and is read automatically when you add the TIFF to QGIS or ArcGIS Pro. You rarely need to open it directly, but any text editor shows the six numbers inside.
