What is a .USM file?

A USM file is a proprietary game video container made by CRI Middleware, used to store pre-rendered cutscenes and full-motion video in commercial games. It will not open in VLC or any standard media player because it must be demuxed first. Use VGMToolbox or wannacri to split it into a video and audio stream, then use FFmpeg to produce a playable MP4.

Why can't some files be converted?
Files protected with DRM (for example purchased iTunes .m4p songs or some .wmv rentals) are encrypted. We can show what's inside, but nobody can convert them without the key.
