What is a .PPSM file?

Everything worth knowing about PowerPoint Open XML Macro-Enabled Slide Show files.

A PPSM file is a PowerPoint slide show that launches directly in full-screen mode and can run VBA macros. Open it in Microsoft PowerPoint; macros are blocked by default for internet files. To view slides without macro risk, use LibreOffice Impress or Google Slides. To edit the deck, save it as .pptm or .pptx inside PowerPoint.

Is my .PPSM file uploaded anywhere?

No. Your .PPSM file is unpacked and drawn for you.

Will it look exactly like in PowerPoint?

Close, but not pixel-perfect. Text, shapes, pictures, tables, colours and the theme are redrawn from the file. Animations, transitions, charts, SmartArt and some special effects are simplified or skipped.

Can I see the speaker notes?

Yes. Notes appear under the current slide whenever the author added them, and they're counted in the info panel.

What about old .PPT files?

For PowerPoint 97-2003 files the viewer extracts the text of every slide, titles and bullets included, but doesn't draw the layout yet. Save the file as PPTX for a full preview.

And Apple Keynote?

Keynote files keep their slides in a proprietary format. If the file contains its built-in preview image we show it; otherwise export the deck from Keynote as PPTX or PDF.
