What is a .PRD file?

Everything worth knowing about SoftMaker Presentations Document files.

A PRD file is a slide deck made by SoftMaker Presentations, part of SoftMaker Office. Open it with SoftMaker Presentations or the free FreeOffice. To share widely, export to PowerPoint (.pptx) or PDF from within the same app. The .prd extension is also used by old MS Word for DOS printer drivers and the Lode Runner game, so the right tool depends on where the file came from.

Is my .PRD file uploaded anywhere?

No. Your .PRD file is unpacked and drawn for you.

Will it look exactly like in PowerPoint?

Close, but not pixel-perfect. Text, shapes, pictures, tables, colours and the theme are redrawn from the file. Animations, transitions, charts, SmartArt and some special effects are simplified or skipped.

Can I see the speaker notes?

Yes. Notes appear under the current slide whenever the author added them, and they're counted in the info panel.

What about old .PPT files?

For PowerPoint 97-2003 files the viewer extracts the text of every slide, titles and bullets included, but doesn't draw the layout yet. Save the file as PPTX for a full preview.

And Apple Keynote?

Keynote files keep their slides in a proprietary format. If the file contains its built-in preview image we show it; otherwise export the deck from Keynote as PPTX or PDF.
